2021 ‒ obtained a PhD habilitation degree (in humanities) in Cultural and Religious Studies at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia.
2007 ‒ obtained a PhD degree (in humanities) in Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Opole.
1999 ‒ obtained an MA degree in Polish Philology at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Wrocław.

Collaboration with the Academy of Technology and Humanities in Bielsko-Biała as part of the project: “Polish sheep wool for improved resource utilisation and value creation”, research task: “Grazing and biodiversity: positive effects on climate, herbage production and wool characteristics” (Norway Grant 2014-021/POLNOR 2019).
Collaboration with Pracownia Projektowania dla Tożsamości (Laboratory of Designing for Identity) of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
– an interdisciplinary teaching project conducted as part of the module “antropologia w projektowaniu produktów i usług” (“anthropology in designing products and services”, academic year 2019/2020), titled: “Wełna jako czynnik więziotwórczy i kulturotwórczy w kontekście pasterstwa” (“Wool as a Factor of Bond Formation and Culture Formation in the Context of Pasturing”). The final result of the collaboration between ethnologists and students of design includes five concepts of exhibitions on the medical properties of wool, the relationship between man and nature, obtaining wool and the tools needed to process it as well as professional female shepherds (baca): https://asp.katowice.pl/uczelnia/projekty/projekt-welna
– an interdisciplinary teaching project conducted as part of the module “antropologia w projektowaniu produktów i usług” (“anthropology in designing products and services”, academic year 2020/2021), titled: “Tożsamość rzemiosła. Materiałowe kompendium projektanta: drewno/ osika/ wiór” (“Identity of Craft. A designer’s Compendium of Materials: Wood/Aspen/Shavings”). The final result of the collaboration between ethnologists and designers is an online publication on the subject of aspen shavings as a material used by craftsmen for weaving ornaments, containers, hats: https://issuu.com/kasiapelkabura/docs/publikacja_mkidn

Collaboration with the Municipal Office in Cieszyn, Bogdan Kosak’s Modelarnia Ceramiczna, Zespół Szkół Budowlanych in Cieszyn titled “Szlak Zabytków Nieoczywistych” (“Route of Non-Obvious Monuments”) as part of an interdisciplinary teaching project conducted as part of the module “antropologia w projektowaniu produktów i usług” (“anthropology in designing products and services”, academic year 2021/2022). The final result will provide an interactive map of Cieszyn with the descriptions of objects, architectural details and places which are not treated by the residents or tourists as precious monuments (therefore degrade quickly), but are unique due to their history of craftsmanship.

Collaboration with Fundacja Wolne Miejsce and Sklep Socjalny “Spichlerz” in Katowice, Stowarzyszenie Kurka Wodna in Katowice, and Fundacja Rzecz Społeczna in Katowice as part of the module “podstawy marketingu” (“basics of marketing”), major: Media Culture (academic years 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022). The collaboration resulted in the preparation of social campaigns.

Collaboration with the economic sector:

– task manager for the project “Jeden Uniwersytet – Wiele Możliwości. Program Zintegrowany” (grant no. SF180000500000000), financed by the National Centre for Research and Development as part of Program Operacyjny “Wiedza Edukacja Rozwój” (PO WER), Priority Axis III Higher Education for the Economy and Development, collaboration with the representatives of digital media and electronic entertainment (video games, e-sports);
– consultations with the representatives of the video game sector, regarding the possibility of using ethnographic research in preparing a methodology of researching the needs of gamers to be used by game producers (creators) in product/service design;
– consultations with the representatives of the video game and e-sports sectors, regarding the educational programme for the students of ethnology and cultural anthropology aimed at expanding the career prospects of the graduates by providing them with competence that would enable them to work for game, electronic entertainment, and media producers.
